36's or stick with 33's
36's or stick with 33's
Guys I've got a non turbo safari and have been offered a cheapish set of 36 swampers. These would only be for wellingon Akatarawa type terrain i.e. clay, mud and some shale. I have 33 wranglers but would like more diff clearance. Would 36's kill my low ratio driving? Also interested in those Deestones as I want an aggressive tyre.
Re: 36's or stick with 33's
deestone 35s only measure at 33'' yep ya saffy will push 36s round giving you clearance but at a loss elsewhere swampers are good in the akas rallywoods areas they love mud clay but hate rock shale same old argument about tyres so horses for courses you choose ?

So drivable in the mud but not great on the road? I'll have to check clearance. Have a 4ince suspension and 2inch body lift.
Re: 36's or stick with 33's
i ran 33" tyres on my non turbo patrol for years as I thought I needed a turbo to drive bigger tyres. I then bought a set of 35x12.5 simex (which meassure 35.9", same size as my 36" Super swampers). I wish I had gone straight to the bigger tyres to start with. In low box you have more than enough torque to drive the 36" tyres and there is little to no difference on decents between the 33" and 36" tyres. It transformed the capibility of my Patrol. Just do it, you won't regret it.
I run 2" suspension and 2" body lift with slightly trimmed guards and extended rear bump stops; so 4" and 2" on yours will be fine.
The bigger tyres look better too.
