Post by petefj40 »

Rod Millen's son Ryan is racing a late model FJ40 for the event.
Here's a short clip on it.
Looks real cool.

See ya there!

I recently observed some sorta wheeled jungle gym with a big maori fulla & a loud V8 inside tearing around the Taupo boys top secret test track at about warp factor 27. Rumour has it that a certain blue 'hilux' from those parts might be entering also.

Last I heard #55 was a starter, might have to check & go over one weekend soon & help with the prep. I think the race plan for #899 was for Mike to be pit boss & Raana was going to ironman the driving. My mate found a cheap lada he reckoned we should enter but (un)fortunatly it was in Chch  Should be a fun weekend.

Visited the Performance Mechanical Race Team R&D facility to lend a hand yesterday, #55 is looking good, winches are stripped out & a big fuel tank installed. Saw Raana's new weapon with it's clothes on; it looks bitchin' & is apparently performing really well in testing.

It looks like team scrapheap's evil plan is coming together nicely - a dirty bit of weather is approaching for the weekend which should have all the buggy boys soaked & freezing their nuts off while we just switch on the wipers, turn up the heater & open the thermos of milo  :)

In Class 6 Chris Haldane came in 1st in the LWB Patrol, followed by Craig & Dean Mulholland in the 40 then Klem & Dan made 3rd in the Hilux. Unfortunately Raana's new truck had transmission issues which put them out early on Sunday.

I was out for a ride with Dan Sun morning when we came across the 40 on its side so we pulled them back on their wheels then the bastards went & bet us! :D But they bought us heaps of beers last night which made up for it. :D It was a fun event & we were happy just to finish, getting on the podium was great!
