WANTED: 70 series cruiser front hub - all sorted now!

Post by Sadam_Husain »

Looking for a front hub for a 70 series cruiser, 60 series probably the same and possibly hilux?

Have ripped my FWH off and its ripped all the studs and dowels out and stretched all the holes a bit, its possibly repairable but looking for a replacement first?

Only need the bare hub, dont need the disc rotor or freewheeling hub

I just got a rear one from a fellow for $100. I know he had a front as well as he didn't know which was which so brought both for me to choose from. They were from 40 series. It had no wheel studs in it - (I think I have about three of them here as I ended up with a few spares from when I damaged my front studs.)

I'm not on my computer so don't have his details on hand. If this sounds useful let me know
Sold my 1985, BJ74 MWB Landcruiser, rear locker, 33" MTs, snorkel, PTO winch, solid bars all round, spotties, AM CB etc.

I've got a couple of 40 series front hubs here but there different coz they are for drum brakes not disc, I'm trying to find out if any of the hilux hubs might be the same?

To give some idea of pricings. When I was looking to replace my rear one - Brand new 70 series rear hub upwards from $200 or used one for about $175ish. (Just Cruisers) I don't know how the fronts would compare but its some dollar signs for you to use as comparisons.

You are right the numbers seem to be different than a hilux but there can't be much difference.

The only difference that I know of is the length is different for electric hubs and discs are bigger for a 70 but I would have thought Std ones should be interchangeable with a 106 hilux.

I have plenty of hilux ones that you could have if they would work and I could bring one with me on friday when I arrive in wellington at 1.15pm. Only a few minutes to fit them. I also have the housing for the aisin free wheeling hub if yours is damaged

If you could measure the overall length of yours and the length to the rotor mount I could check my ones to see if they are the same. I am sure all bearing sizes are the same.

I have a PZ70 front diff in my hilux and have used LN65 and Ln107 brakes and stubs so alot of stuff is the same

Cheers Richard

Awesome stuff thanks, much appreciated, I think I'm right now with malcolms offer. I know a few people have used hilux hubs for disc conversions so I was guesing I might find some hilux ones that are the same or simular as the crusier ones despite the part number difference. My trucks an early 70 series so it has the same size disc rotor as a hilux, I think the only difference is my rotors are vented and the hilux ones are solids? My freewheeling hub housing is a bit stretched and farked  but I've got 2 spare aisins out in the shed

Right off to Malcolms to see how many bits I can steal off his spare front axle

as far as im aware the only real difference is the cruisers have bigger kingpin studs than the lux which makes them a fair bit stronger than the lux ones.
