question on diesel pumps.

got a 93 terrano, leaking diesel from what looks to be the deisel pump, what sort of price should I be expecting to pay for it be fixed (time and knowledge issues). ?

any thoughts please guys?

$1000+ at diesel an turbo if you drive it in, get them to remove pump replace seals recalibrate and re fit,

~$40 if you drive down to the shop buy seal kit. another 40 for a cambelt while your at it.

or take it out yourself and ring around a few shops ask them how much to fit seals and calibrate.

I had the same problem on my 95 mistral.
It cost me $750 including gst to get the pump taken out all new seals put in, have the pump re-installed then vehicle tuned.
It ran alot better after that always a bonus =D

thats rather pricey :shock: ,took mine to the mechanics who look after the trucks at work and got it done for around $200 last year :D

ended up costing $500 for a new pump and then 700 to put it in. 7 hrs labour they reckoned. lesson learnt. go to the place that specialises in that shite. ah well.

Yeah I had get the seals done on a pajero, Cost over $600 most was labour I was told by a deisel mechanic that you have to be trade quilified to order the seals don't know how true this is.
GU patrol 35s ect.

depends on what seal is leaking. if its only the top seal you can probably DIY without even taking the pump out.
however if its the shaft seal thats gone you will have to strip and rebuild the pump.
if you going to pull the whole thing out and pull it all to bits you might as well get it recon'd while your at it.
