alternator question

I have an alternator from a td27 out of a terrano, i got a replacement one from the wreckers, it came out of a mistral. on the one out of the mistral I have found there are a couple of extra hose (welll one really) im wondering what it is supposed to do as there is no hose on the one out of the terrano.

the extra outlet/inlet goes onto the vaccum pump, im not sure waht its for as the old one doesnt have it, and neither does the other terran that I own.

I need help urgently please, can anyone tell me what its for, or if they are completly different, I was told that they were the same.

anyone in wellington now a good real cheap auto electrician, I need to get this sorted asap.
