terrano transmission swap q's

Post by grytvikken »

I have bitten the bullet and bought a donor 2.7 non turbo to swap the manual gear box over into my auto terrano..... I realize i will need a turbo clutch but i do have a few of questions.

1/ is the injector pump on a 2.7 non turbo the same as the one on a turbo 2.7?
2/ are the rear diff ratios the same between a manual 2.7 and an auto 2.7turbo
3/ when you go to start her up i know you have to connect a couple of wires so the car thinks its in drive or neutral where are they and what do they look like.
4/ ANYTHING anyone thinks could be of help
Cheers everyone for any advice

The trans axle number will tell you if dif ratios are the same. Check the plate under the bonnet and it will say HG46 (most likely) on both of them. The 46 means 4.6:1 ratio but the na model might be 4.8.

You will need to disable the inhibitor switch which you should be able to do by earthing the starter solenoid and bypassing the switch that is fitted to it.
The reverse lights won't work as the feed for them comes from the inhibitor switch on the auto and out of the gearbox on the manual.

You will need a good wiring diagram to trace all of these wires.
Nissan Terrano coilovers, turboed VH45, Safari axles, and some other stuff.
