Need a New Winch Hook!

Post by juz »

Had to cut the old Winch hook off to get Bar off truck, was small/old and bent anyway but I cant find any new ones! Ive been around engineers but they only have chain hooks, and I see 4wdbits have real heavy ones but there $130 any ideas were to get one? and what rating should they be? has to be one with a pin so can take it off..

if the loop is already in the end of the rope you will need one of these

otherwise you need to use a shackle to connect it or have the loop re done.
There is no mechanical problem so difficult that it cannot be solved by brute strength and ignorance.

My advice after a wild ride back in to the Chasm when I was using a hook with a failed safety catch while winching out of bulletproof chasm, near the top of the bank the cruiser got a bit of drive that enabled the rope to go slack, the hook jumped off and when I lost traction It was a scary few seconds as I slid back with no winch rope attached. The $119 hook looks OK. My new one is the same as Bulletproof uses, I don't remember the name for them but they have a wide opening and eye and are opened by means of a toggle on the side of the hook, may be bulletproof will show us a picture. 4WD bits have probably got them.

YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR,

FITZY.
