I'm a long time reader of this site but this is basiclly my first post.Over the last week i have been giving my old bj45 a bit of a spruce up. It had a very very tired 3b and 4 speed in it. I brought a 1986 bj74 to use as a donor it had a 13bt and 5 speed in it. So i have been changing these over. It has all gone pretty smooth i guess but there have been a few things to test me along the way but thats the way it goes sometimes. I will start with the good points of the build. The engine and 5 speed tranny bolted up on the same mounts so i was stoked about that. Also it was an easy conversion from 24v to 12v and lastly i quite enjoyed doing it change from being a farmer evryday. Bad points were having to make new mounts for the larger radiator getting the driveshaft lengths changed and the vaccum unit on the side of the tranny not fitting between the chassis rail and box. There were a few other little things to test me that i cant remember of the top of my head but will add them here if i remember. I also did the head gasket while the engine was out and got the head and exhaust manifold skimmed etc. I swapped the rear brake assemblies over aswell so i could get rid of that poxy park brake on the rear of the old transfer case. I still have a few things to tidy up like getting a longer park brake cable made as the bj45 is a LWB and mounting the airbox somewhere if any of you guys haveany ideas about that i would love to hear them. All in all it should be a huge improvement to the old horse. If anybody has any questions about what i have done just ask away and i will try to answerthem to the best of my ability. I will try to add some pics aswell.
Thanks
Nick
