Snorkel Installation - Terrano 3.0V6 1994

Hi all

I am looking at buying a snorkel from here:

Anyone know anything about Gibson snorkels, are they any good?

I had a quote from G Guy Motors to install a Safari snorkel as follows:
Snorkel - $570.00 + GST
Install - $210.00 + GST

I am thinking I will buy the Gibson snorkel (cheaper) and have it installed by G Guy Motors for about $250.00 + GST

I dont want to do it myself as I dont have the time, and dont want to chop the guard either.

Whats everyones thoughts on using the Gibson instead of the Safari, any down side?

Installs a bit harder on the Gibson's but if your paying to get it done its not your problem

I have fitted two Gibson snorkels.

Both had slightly pitted finishes.

Not sure if the Safari snorkel units for the Terrano's are any different but the Gibson and other cheaper designs use an internal piece that runs along the inside of the guard and it's a pain in the ass to fit. With the Terrano the front guard has to come off. To get the front guard off you have to remove the front bumper and so on.

Not sure if the Safari snorkel units for the Terrano's are any different but the Gibson and other cheaper designs use an internal piece that runs along the inside of the guard and it's a pain in the ass to fit. With the Terrano the front guard has to come off. To get the front guard off you have to remove the front bumper and so on.

All that was removed when mine was fitted was the internal plastic splash guard that sits inside the wheel well above the tyre, this gives access to the inner guard.
I would recommend replacing the internal part with flexi tube. My inner part did not connect properly to the outer part where it enters the guard and had to be siliconed to buggery.

Excuse my naievity but do I need to get a specific one for my petrol v6, or would any snorkel for my shape terrano work? Not sure if the intakes are on different sides on the diesel and the petrol. Cheers

It may be year dependant as your body may be a little different in shape?
As far as I know the air filters are on the same side for both petrol and diesel.

Cheers for that, mine is the 1994 shape that was still boxy but had the facelifted dash. I get the truck this weekend hopefully so will have a look then.

Unless you have pretty small hands/arms it is nearly impossible to get to a couple of the bolts that need to be tightened inside the guard.

Still better than removing the whole guard.

My mate is looking at getting one of these for his 3.5L Pajero SWB. Has anyone installed one of these snorkels on a Paj? Is it likely to still be as difficult as the terrano one is to install if we are going to install it ourselves?
