LJ78 servicing..

Post by Ginzu8 »

Hi all, recently got myself a LJ78 1kz-te auto. I want to do a full service myself replacing all the fluids. Can anyone please give me some info with regards to whats oil is recommended and grade? transmission oil? diff off etc. it has a factory electric Rear locker does it use other oil?

When i went to Ripco, the guy behind the counter told me that theres 2 types of air filter one is $28 and the other is like $75.

Much appreciated.

On another note, I went to get a price for OME lift kit for $1500 on parts. Is there another brand or kit that others would recommend as $1500 sounds a bit steep... Or is it about right?

Cheers

through the dipstick hole generally. It pays to replace/ clean filter in sump pan at the same time. price your fluid and ring up for a price on getting it done at trans place. i was surprised to find once it wasn't much dearer to get them to do it as the fluid is so expensive and they would get fluid so cheap in comparison. and you dont end up with an oil stain on the drive way

If you simply drain the sump and replace the fluid, you'll only get about 1/2 of it, fluid sit's in the cooler, pipe's etc.. Take it somewhere that has a trans flush machine, it pump's in new oil through the cooler lines and removes all the old stuff.
It's just more fun in a lada !!

Wat area u in mate? I'm in chch and my work does transmisson flushes on autos using wynns machine, elf ATF and wynns trans fluid additives for $189 would be more than happy to help u out, that includes ur upto 12L of oil.

In regard to ur lift kit that's quite dear, I have chamberlins 100mm lift springs in my crusher and run rancho adjustable shocks but there are cheaper Raw options available..

Hope this helps, Adam

Go in to Appco and ask for Dace. He is on here and sorted me out with a lift kit for my leaf sprung lux with maxitrac gear (which is great btw). Im sure he can sort you something. No point paying 3x more coin for a flash brand when the cheap brands are just as good.

Hey man, I see you have a LWB, but maybe this cheap lift for a SWB will work?

Why not go to local spring makers and just get them to make u springs? I got leafs made with 2" lift on my lux for 800 can't imagine coils would be much more? And then go buy a set of Raw shockys that are 2(or however much)" longer than standard shocks..

dont even know if there is any shop in palmy that can make springs and i would assume that custom stuff is normally more expensive..
