Lol The Joys of owning a Nissan

My list for today
picked up a tail light off tradme for $50 and Replaced smashed rear tail light from Woodhill's suicidal trees.

replaced left hand front wheel bearings on the whale to get rid of the right hand rumble thats been getting slowly worse while I was at it checked the kingpin bearings which where fine, repacked them with grease and set the preload by removing one of the shims top and bottom, took for test drive Farkme what a difference, whale has completely lost it's clunk/thud/rumble, skitter, shimmy, wobble and wander now, drives almost as nice as my IFS Bighorn, except i over tightened the wheel bearing a smidge and will have to back it off a little

also going to strip clean and repack the right hand side wheel/kingpin bearings and set the preload, last week when I replaced the radius arm bushes I noticed there was no preload resistance on the right hand side at all. no play though.

Saturday morning went to Bolos work to try and balance the 35s but alas the balancer was still trying to walk off the pallet

so shot round to my old work and used thier balancer and about 1600 grams worth of lead later we have mint front wheels with no more violent wheel shudder

still got a tracking problem, but it seems that most folks with creepies have this issue

then headed up to Sigs to help with the motor swap etc on sadams big red flatdeck

manned the bbq for the day along with a bit of work here and there, and even managed to get in a water fight with Sigs kids as well.........

Image

woke up this morning and watched the replay of the All Blacks awesome win over the Boks, then headed up to Rallywoods to scope out new tracks

am now very impressed with 35s on my 80 as I managed to get up a few tracks that I shouldn;t of and I put it down to the extra little bit of height, but what I wasn't impressed with is the fact that I've gone to a taller tyre on wider rims with a bigger offset and I still manage to rip off a flare............

Image

Image

but I did manage to go back and find it and then had a real good chat with Vern and Graeme about old tracks and where they are, then went off exploring again to find these tracks and investigate where Graeme has cleared some tracks, which could come in handy

oh yeah, did I mention that the weather forecasters were so wrong this weekend, what awesome weather we had in Welly 8)

Changed the outer CV boots on the bighorn and once finished went straight out for a play in the mud. Finally its been holding me back since I got it. But need some better tyres now

Had a look at the Land rover as I kept loosing brake fluid and to find that the rear drivers entire brake unit missing!!! so now I need to buy 1 of those so thats its got 4 wheels that actually brake not 3 wheels. Gave up and put it back in the garage.

Spent the weekend at Kopara playing in thick, slossy mud. Spent saturday afternoon winching Johnny R out of the bog...he had blown both CV's and the short axle and was up to his grill in mud. Good to know what the winch can handle.

Reminds me of trying to get Johnny through the Chasm until midnite.
That was a backward step when Johnny Reay bought that NISSAN ,   He should put the hilux back on the track.

Did you go into the Trent Al ?

Nah, didn't get in Richard. Got the number of Mike D but found it hard to talk with the other cocky...bad timing and I was too busy. had a short nosy up there and the Aharua was quite low from what I normally see it up that way. Was going to try and cross but only had Rob with me and if I got stuck, his hilux can't move my pig. Might set it up as a private trip next autumn, you in? Alot easier that way. We do need some new land to 4wd on in that area, getting a bit sick and tired of tracks that go nowhere and you have to winch out. As for Johnny, I had to winch him out backwards as well. His truck is very fing heavy.

Went to Kopara with Al & the club...had a great time.
Blew up my compressor, lost my hand brake & broke the lens of 1 of my spotlights.
Have tonight discovered why i lost my handbrake.Wheel bearing is gone & seal leaking so oil all over 1 of the pads (that i replaced last weekend).
Have already got both axles out & will get new bearings pushed on tomorrow & will reassemble it all tomorrow night .
