noisey box

Post by skidtoy »

i know the nissan have bit of a thing for getting little bit of noise when 1st letting clutch out...but my gearbox sounds quite rattly at low rev's...??? im thinking some of the bearing may have done there dash, but it only does it at low speed and quite bad in reverse. ive checked the oil and seems quite light weight compared to what weight i thought would have been in it. have thought about maybe swaping it out for abit heavier weight oil but i know that this can be a bad thing at times also as the oil doesnt penetrate the bearing correctly.

anyone had anything like this or ideas...??? im going to put a heavy duty clutch in soon so ill check everything when i drop the box out and may strip it down to check it all out if i cant sort it.

I've got a similar game going on, when I put pressure on the clutch pedal the noise go's away, my thoughts were bearing as well but what a mission to fix that

Re the 1st post, i dont remember off the top of my head but, do safaris or patrols have a dual mass fly wheel?
they can cause rattling noises when they are getting tired?

im not sure what the fly wheel set up is like until i take the box out,if it is looking wore i will put a new one in also with the heavy duty clutch.

only does it at low revs not high and gets quite a bad drone in reverse. im hoping it is just worn clutch/thrust bearing...dont really want to have to go through and do all the bearing and worn parts if i have to...
