Wanted V6 Terrano auto

I have a freind who just brougt a V6 Terrano n the auto wont select reverse he got a price to get it fixed but we think 2k is way way to expencive.
Would anyone out there have one they are willing to sell to him.
Terrano TD 2.7 and a ssangyong Rexton
