LWB GQ Custom front/rear bars

Post by marmel »

Just got my bars put back on last night and my spotlights mounted.

As far as design goes I kind of just made it up as I went. I sourced all of the steel from a local engineers shop and had them bend the c channel shape for the rear and the front box section.

If I were to do it again would I make any changes? Definitely! I wouldn't use 6mm plate for the front box section or rear c channel, I think it is overkill. I would also change the design slightly, maybe a bit more protection for the rear quarters.

Anyway, not to bad for my first effort, I managed to build both bars for a total cost of under $500.

I still have to put the winch in (ordered today) and bolt on my front recovery hooks which sit on either side of the box section.

I like design of front bar, simple design but does look good.I probley would have used round on the top hoop to match bottom section.
May like to look at protection for the indercators/front of guard at some stage depending on what type of tracks you looking at doing,as these always get bashed

they'r some big ass spots :D

hows the turbo install going?

Cheers Shane

Just got the oil lines sorted for the turbo, yet to source water lines (or decide where to run them) and a dump pipe.

I will post some pics when I get it sorted.
