If you are planning for alot of mud, and not much road use, go for Simex or Silverstone, Silverstone are about $100 cheaper than Simex

You know what/where you wana drive. How much you want to spend would be the next question and try to sort something that fits both criteria.

Ive got Kuhmo KL71 & they are awesome
never let me down in all sorts of conditions.

Mud a Kopara on west coast
Deep snow at Godley Glacier
Soft shingle in several canterbury rivers.
Great on the tar seal too..even reasonably quiet.

I'd recommend the Kumho Kl-71 as well. Good all round tyre. I noticed yesterday playing in the river that the all trucks with kumhos handle the soft shingle well. They are excellent in snow and ice. Better then a silverstone or simex on wet rock, and handles pretty well in the mud being a directional tyre as well, as I found out over on the Kopara trip recently. My only comment is they don't wear to well on heavy trucks and sidewalls could be stronger for what the flat part of the tyre can handle.
