Rusty Swivels

Can these be fixed on a FJ40 front axle?
Can the swivel balls be re-chromed whilst still attached to the axle housing?
1992 Land Rover Discovery V8i, 5 speed, 12000lbs winch, Salisbury rear, 110 front, 65mm spring lift, dents in every panel, Rallywoods pinstriping.

If you are coiling this you will need to rotate the swivals to improve front driveshaft angles whilst retaining Castor.
You can remove the swivals by running a cutting disc through the weld retaining them to the housing. They have a tube inserted in the housing so you can refit them quite true. Rechrome the balls then refit, rotate and weld. The radius arm mount welds will probably bow the housing so you will need to true it.

well no toyota swivels were chromed just a polish laquer finish cos when you think about it how could they chrome them when there welded to the housing opposed to rover ones being a bolt on fitment which are chromed.....

just use some fine grit 12-1500 paper on them just for a quick scuff over

good luck
