Wanted, cheap 4WD

Post by Bubba »

I am changing jobs and need a cheap daily runner that I can play with on the weekend. Needs to have a WOF, Rego or get one easy. The cheaper to run the better as I get refunded for my km's

Anything considered but nothing to thursty.

If you hear of anything give me a holla

Oh and I can't get on to Trade me coz my employer has blocked the site

Sounds like the IRD... not sure if I like you any more

Yeah, avoid the usual ways like using babelfish on altavista, using the IP address (which most decent site restriction packages will block you from doing anyway) etc... Someone will note it and come kick your bum :)

Just do it from home... safest way... Look at the trouble the Police get into with the internet

No not IRD, but close.

Never had it on at home as I spend to much time on bloody computers as it is. Mite have to now.

I have to find a small cheap 4wd or the Mrs said that she wants a car and I have to use my truck/SUV/4WD (refer to old thread). I don't want it, it's the family waggen.

I found one!

Post by Bubba »

After playing in the mud on Sat I decided I needed a dedicated boys 4WD.

I found one,

A early 90's (can't remember the year) Vitara, with a 99 motor, ARB front and rear with rap around bullbars, 30" muddies (can't remember brand) with 70% of it's rubber. OME shocks, electric winch. Body is fairly straight, but not to straight

Cheap as chips

Problem is, brokem front diff and missing a front hub

He called me today and said that he found one on Trade me for $260 if I wanted it. How much would it cost to fit a front diff?

Is $260 cheap

for $2400 is it still worth it or am I buying trouble?

Try this, it always seems to work

http://www.trade-me.co.nz/ or

http://www.trade-me.org.nz/ or

http://www.trade-me.net.nz/

any one of these should get around it, as it does with WebMarshal.

$2.4k sounds cheap enough. As MC hammer would say - break it down.
EFI 1600 -800
Winch -600
Bars -400
shocks -200
tyres -400 = $2400 ??
The diffs in Vits can be a problem, the guys that trial them carry one or two spares to every rally :o .
So supply and demand would point to availability and price getting worse and worse. Some improvements are out there like fitting a cast housing instead of the aluminium one etc etc.
