Which is the best battery for an '88 Single Cab Hilux?

LN 60 2.2 diesel engine (I think)

Just picked it up and the engine barely turns with my Hiace battery, what type do I need and which rating would give the strongest start/turn over?

Recommendations please!

hi there.

Maybe you should start looking for reasons as to why its having trouble starting. check things that may provide resistance in the starting circuit. Bad grounds, corrosion on terminal clamps, etc.

Maybe it needs a new starter?

The terminals seem to be OK and clean, the battery from my hiace turned it over but only very slowly (yes I have checked that it has oil!) so I assume that it isn't strong enough?

I know the battery in it is shot because when I picked it up the truck was already running and the owner said it would need replacing.

So what is the best type of battery to replace it with? and what cca?

reckons you should have something in the vicinity of 600 CCA

wot size was the hiace one, coz if its similar then you need to start checking stuff as flying brick has alluded to

get at least 700cca. That when when you put a winch in you won't have to upgrade the battery.

New battery in and it started first time!
