Have just purchased an escudo for fishing. However the crank has been rooted by the pulley key and needs to be replaced. The local wrecker has a short block from a 16 valve engine. Mine is an eight valve engine, my question is can I use the 16v block with my 8v head.
Cheers

Re: G16A block
as long as the production numbers in the side of the block are a match i don't see why not.
i dont know zook's that well but if its anything like toyota/ nissan etc you'll find G16A in the casting somewhere on the engine

Waiter...there is a drought in my glass.

Back of the block where the bellhousing mates up too. Exhaust side I think.
What were they wanting for the block??
If yours is in good cond other than the crank I'd fit another crank rather than use an unknown cond block.

Re: G16A block
300 for the short block. what would a new crank and bearings cost?.
Re: G16A block
Does the other block have all the internals ready to go and not been left in the weather??
Could be looking at 300 for just the crank from some parts places and go as low as free if you know someone that knows someone maybe.
You'd end up with a fully rebuilt bottom end given how dissassembled the engine would get and the bearings you should end up replacing.
