New to the site,new to 4wd,looking for suspension advice

Hows it going guys, pretty new to the 4wd world and just joined the site today. I own a 1989 toyota double cab 2.8 diesel hilux and looking to get her a bit higher off the ground. I bought it a wee while ago and it came with 31"mud tyres so Just trying to find out what options i have and at what sorta price range. Any input will be appriciated

there are to options for lifting a 4wd either a bodylift or a suspension lift

are you looking at running bigger tyre or do you just want a bit more height?

trying to get more height - i see trucks quite alot higher than mine and just wondering the in's and outs. I understand the bodylift needs certification. can a body lift be 100mm? or is 50mm the max? the hilux is both front and rear spring leaf and just wondering what options are included in the suspension lift and what it invovles

Body lift can be whatever hieght, saw a pajero on trademe awhile back with 6" body lift! thats 150mm.
You can buy brand new lift leaves, or get extended shackles, I dont know much about leaf springs so i'll let someone else explain it better.

the shackle you are talking about, is that just the D shackle that holds the axel in place? waiting on a mechanic who dabbles in 4x4ing to get back to me with information and prices

Nope, Its like this you can see going from chassis to the leaf.

ah i see, where would i be able to purchase these? i doubt trademe will be of any luck. And these are perfectly fine to just replace with bigger ones? no cert needed and safe?
