brake adjustment

any one have a good idea on how to adjust rear drums up on a nissan navara d21 4wd. im having a prick of a time everything is in the way and cant get a good rythem going when adjusting. do these have a special tool to use or do they autommatically adjust when you pull up hand brake or something???? any help would be good

If its just like you standard drum brakes there should be an adjuster on the inside/behind of the drum at the bottom there will be a rubber bung (some dont have them as previous person may not have put them back). you will just need to take out and use a screw driver to adjust it. You will need to do this on both sides and make sure that its done evenly. I just did my handbrake ones on my bighorn and it was pretty easy and it is the same setup on my safari.

yea i know where the adjuster is there just seems to be no room to get a screw driver in there and constantly turn the adjuster. the whole is right behind the u bolt on the springs. maybe the adjuster is just worn i better take drums off to have a look.
