townshend hut

i have been told this hut has been removed does anyone know for sure and if so can you still use the track that goes there?

Hut is long gone. Just foundations when I was there about two years ago.
Access was through a locked gate then but don't have contact details for the keyholder, sorry.

Not sure....the track crosses some paddocks before following the river. I think permission was always needed for vehicle access. Should still be ok if you can find out who the cocky is.

Are you talking about the Townsend river up Lees Valley? Its on Mt Pember station which should be in the phone book. If you cant find it then call Whalfdale station, I heard a rumour that Colin Gates is the manager up there again and overseeing the whole operation. Mt pember, Snowdale, Island Hill and all but 2 of the stations are owned by the same company and run out of Whalfdale. :wink:

I know Colin Gates is manger at mt pember, have fun trying to get hold of him tried twice a day for a week and no luck

yea thats the one up lees valley. i manged to get the number last night off one of the pest board guys was going to hunt up that way park where townshend hut was and walk into black hill hut but looks like will be heading up lake sumner way instead
