toyota prado 96 auto wont shift outa park.....help

my prado as of yesterday wont shift out of park unless you push the wee red manual unlock button beside the shifter.

anyone know what caused this and how to fix it?

it just happened all of a sudden left home towing a boat (it worked when i left) stopped about 50km down the road the get a pie and thats where it stopped working, there was no bangs clunks or any other signs of anything going wrong

theres a fusebox in the footwell and under the bonnet

same thing happened in mu escudo was just a fuse

There is a shift lock which wont allow it to move unless the key is on and foot on the brake.
Sometimes the system gets sticky or a fuse has blown.

Had the same thing happen, turns out it was a short in the trailer wireing kept blowing a fuse.

which fuse should i be looking for in particular? dont really have the time to go through all of them till the end of next week when im not working

try the guage or a/t fuses

Check brake light fuse, or the brake light switch.
