T-case Oil leak And Jammed lever.

Post by Henry »

Hi

My son's 94 discovery transfer case is leaking oil from behind the hand brake assy. It appears to be coming from a electrical thing there? is this a sensor or switch? is it normal for oil to leak from there? I have done the front and rear seals. and this seems to be the last leak.

I cant move the transfer case from H to L or lock the centre diff. I am told this is the links on top of the transfer case. How do I get at these? is this right?

Thanks

it is land rover, if it aint leaking it run out, i think there is a speed sensor, probably a oring, pull it out and have a look.

there is a "rave" manual you can download for discos, it covers the 95 onwards, how ever the mechanical are very similar, download it and have a read.

If yours is a late 94 facelift model it will be the transducer for the speedo. It is held in by a allen key small bolt. Should be an O-ring to seal it.

The transfer lever can stick if not used. Need to free up the linkages. Only access is from underneath unless you remove centre consol and drill out rivets on rubber cover to get access from top.
