Post by HedgeBoar »

Mates 70 series shortie was stolen this arvo. Silver/grey. Has a unique Turbo 2B in it, side exhaust, unique sound.... "Ditch the Bitch, let's go hunting" sticker on the back.

Taken from his driveway.

Far out  you Christchurch guys are not having much luck with your 4WDrives.

This is starting to become a common thing now, I hope that the truck will be found.

I might park my truck in the garage for a while.

Sounds like there could be a bit of a 4wd theft ring doing the rounds, like there was a while ago with people stealing boats and shipping them overseas.

Maybe a good time to review your garage security as well, locksmiths have some better quality locks and some other options that the big hardware chains have

Update: Police found the truck somewhere in linwood, and it is now with it's rightful owner. Apparently it's pretty much intact, just missing all the tools etc. that were in it.

No real surprises on location but its good to hear that its been recovered and that the police didnt let it become just a statistic, tools are the easier part to replace but still a bugger tho

Apologies no offence was intended  as i also live around the area i was thinking more along the lines of if it was found in somewere like fendalton or the like that would be more surprising but i think it doesnt mater where it is theyl still take it even if you dug a hole and burried it theyd probably just dig it up :x

I heard today that THREE, yes that's Three, 70 series Toyotas have been stolen this week in ShSh. News came from one of the 4wd wrecker here.

I may have to invest in a big chain and lock tomo.
Around diff and wheels should hopefully stop this.
Perhaps connected to a plate screwed into the driveway with the bolts welded over too.

I've lived in Linwood 3 years all up and I'm not surprised.

Bash away I say. Dodgy area. Block your ears, park your shit out of sight, throw the dirty nappies back over the fence and life is easy

Lets not bash the suburb i grew up in,Linwood is not that bad i lived there for 30 years and had no problems at all, there are far worse suburbs than that lets say parts of papanui, aranui, and never had to throw a nappy back over the fence maybe a dead cat or two, bloody pests 8)

We're near Smith Street and the area is pretty tidy, newish houses etc.
We let the neighbours know when we got burgd and one of them said that they had been done a year earlier. There's been no probs since.

AND funningly enough we were fortunate to have a policeman come around and dust for prints.

Back on topic I drive past a 70 series cruiser on the way into town every week, it's a real nice tidy truck with alloy bars/mags etc, it's always parked smack bang on the main road. That would worry me if it were mine.
