Problems at Maratoto, caution urged

Post by PeterVahry »

Reports have come in that some areas of the Maratoto trail are now on poor condition and creating difficulty for most vehicles. There is a section, just as the main trail drops onto the river flat, where the drainage has failed and to return back up from the Tairua River end, requires winching.
Please use caution and discretion to avoid destroying what's left. Efforts will be made in the New Year to get machinery in to do repairs.

The less ongoing damage that can be achieved, will mean a lower cost for repairs. A suggestion is to turn around at the area of the Loop gate.
