Re: Rover v8 in to FJ40
Dosent really answer your question but:
not really a conventional conversion, there are rover v8s with cruiser boxes hanging off of them but I cant say I know of any cruisers with rovers in them, there probably a bit on the small size for a heavy cruiser and chevys have always been a pretty standard and easy engine for conversions... ie plenty of aftermarket bellhousings and kits available, clutches are easy to do, they fit well etc

Re: Rover v8 in to FJ40
I guess you might be talking about an FJ45 coz you've got one listed in your signature line, I had a 305 5.0 litre chev in my FJ75 for a while and it was ok on smaller wheels but it run out of puff real quick when I put some simexes on it and I had to up the size to a 350. Prados are a bit lighter and seem ok with smaller v8s and commys and stuff but the bigger cruisers are a lot more weight to run with those engines

Re: Rover v8 in to FJ40
Personally, I wouldn't want to use a rover V8.
They make a great noise, but when it comes to power, they leave a lot to be desired.
If money isn't too much of a problem, you could try to track down a 4.5 Hemi V8 from a Daimler Majestic Major? My Dad has one in his SP250, they are an awesome engine, and like to rev
. There are a few guys in England with some reconditioned ones sitting round
Personally, I would stick to a 350 if money had to be kept reasonably low. At least there are heaps of guys around who know how to tune them
