35x11.5x15" Silverstone's Wanted !!

Post by 2DEAFN »

Hi all,

Have been on the hunt for a while for some 35" or bigger M/T tyres for my trailer truck running a 1uzfe.Planning to put them on 15x10" Beadlock rims.

Have been to a few tyre shops that are close by and the cheapest i have come accross is $440 a tyre and that was for 35x11.5x15" Silverstones.

I can get the Kumho KL71's for cheaper  but with it been a trailer truck and going to be used for farm/mud im leaning more towards sticking with the silverstone option.Have had a set of 33"silverstones before and they were aggresive but didnt have the power to clear them quick enough.

I know everyone has there opinion and preference on tyres but am more so after some info or leads to any one that has or can get a better deal as these days..."its not what u know, its who you know"...

Any info or help would be appreciated...Cheers in advance

so do you have power now to clear them? the silverstones have a larger void than simex, so ya headin the right direction there, but 35's will be harder to spin than 33's as for larger rotational mass..

4wdbits are still listing silverstones little bit cheaper than that, there supposed to be a slightly wider and taller case now bringing them up to a proper 35 inch :?: , there isnt really any comparison between the silverstones and kuhmos there both pretty different performing tyres

edit* silverstones are a bit skinny for 10" rims but I've seen them on them

Personally i'd say $440 fitted wasnt bad.. a 10" rim for an 11.5" tyre in my opinion is far too wide. 7-8" rim be my choice.
Dont follow me. i'll get stuck and need a tow..

Thats what i thought myself pricewise , just thought id throw it up on here to see if there was any cheaper options or if any one had any MINNTTT 2nd hand sets.

Well i already have the rims and would like to run them, so in ur opinion what tyre size would you run on them for mud ??

Tyre sizes on to rims is not my forte !!

Cheers guys for all the info , Brett ( mudhog ) is going to get in touch next week with a price for a set of 35's ...

And T-Boon i am just down the road from them so may swing past over the weekend and if there doors are open , just have a chat.

i know theres bound to be people who run 35x11.5xR15 MT117 silverstones out there on 15x10"beadlock rims so any feedback before i actually purchase would be of great help.

I run my 35x10.5x16 mt117s on a 7" rim. I'd always stick to the narrower side of the manufacturers spec... give the tyre a wider looking shoulder and in theory I suppose it should make it harder to break the bead...

probably not that many mate coz a 10" rim is way too wide for a silverstone, when you compare the tyre bead to a 10" rim you'll find the rim is about 2-3 times wider than the bead, they will pump up ok at road pressure but you'll find it hard to keep your inside beads on when you air down and start feeding your truck some fat around the tracks, its doable but probably not going to end up too reliable

Agreed on the rims being wide, it might be a matter of having to pick up some cheap steel rims, you might even be able to get a deal if you purchased rims and tyres at the same time.

Ohk thats makes sence , so to utilise the 10" rims i have and would like to run , in your mind "Sadam_Husain" what tyre options would you be looking at to get a good combo and for there to be less chance of the inside bead popping off etc ?? keeping in mind it is a trailer truck

theres lots of options, you might be able to swap the 10s for someones set of 8's, if you still want the width you could run 50mm spacers or you could sell the 10's and get a set of 8's beadlocked with flipped centres, my flipped centre 8" beadlocks stick out wider than my 10" beadlocks.

you could look at wider tyres, my creepies are fine on my 10's, I ran around all day at 4 and 5 psi at taranaki the other week without any bead problems, creepies probably arent really the right type of tyre for your truck or terain though, simex 11.5 and 12.5 tyres are usually on 8" rims but they seem ok on 10's but you'd have to dig a bit deeper into your pockets to buy them though

this size silverstone on a 10 inch rim will incur sticks in beads and rim hittin stuff where if stuck onto 8's, you'll protect rim from assorted items/issues..

yes thats tru niblik.Appreciate al the info thats come through im glad i actually posted this on here before i went ahead n purchased the rubber.

Now its time to sit down and decided weather to go back to 8" rims with that size silverstone , or work with the 10" rim that iv got and just go bigger n rubber and dig deeper in the pockets....Xmas is coming quick enough

If you want to keep the 10" rims and have an aggressive tyre, go creepies. Those silverstones, nothing bigger then an 8" rim. I ran mine on 7" and still popped beads even with tubes in. On a 10" rim you will have no side wall bite. The Kumho is a good all round tyre, I liked them and my old N/a safari pig could clear the treads. If I had to choose between the two, I'd pick the kumho's.

awsome , Thanks "Albundy" thats the sort of info and feedback im after. And the more i hear that the silverstones are not suited for 10" i do not wanna take the risk and purchase them to be unimpressed and constantly breaking the inner bead.

The creepys tread pattern has never really appealed to me as a xtreme mud tyre but i suppose if ive got the power to clear them they would be more suited n perform better than silverstones as they would fit/suit the 10" rim better.

As long as the tyre will perform well in the sticky Auckland boggy mud i will be a happy chappy to be able to run the 10" beadlock rim and get a suited tyre that i can get the best grip out of.

I found that the creepys had very impressive sidewall grip and bagged nicely at 5psi   Running on 8" rims with tubes, never had an issue with beads
More than once I climbed out of the ruts with them, have seen a safari tip over because the driver didn't realise how quickly they can climb. Never a problem clearing them. 4.2d pos lwb highroof shit heap nissan

they work well and bag on a heavy Saf but a lux is getting a bit on the light side to bag them out, shit my cruiser only just bags them :?

True , interesting peice of info there thanks Curly12,Its always good to hear feedback about products that i would never of thought i would consider buying.

i guess i could always run a set of creepys on the 10" beadlocks and then when funds allow and if i feel the need for more of a compition tyre then look at going down the 8"rim scenario.

Once again thanks for the feedback , you guys may have saved me some dissapointment
