10th - 12th Feb 2012

Post by Sadam_Husain »

a bit early but its closer to next weekend than last weekend so a new thread it is

climbed under the truck and pulled the bash plate off to have a look at the PTO to see where all the pools of oil are coming from

Image

had a hunt around the shed and found some old PTO's and picked out the best looking forward reverse one that looked pretty clean and dosent look like its been leaking and stuck it on and put the old one aside to get a new bearing and seal on a rainy day :D

Image

while the linkage for the lever was off I lengthened it 120mm on the PTO side to get more travel out of the lever in the cab, the whole setup is a mixed up hybrid, unknowen T handle lever, Cruiser linkage and PTO, PTO shaft is made up of 2x nissan shafts and a bit of cruiser at the PTO end and a nissan winch on the front, when the linkage was setup for the T handle lever it ended up a slush box with only about 20mm movement to select forward-neutral-reverse and most of that was slop from flogged out joints in the linkage, forward and reverse would typically both select within the centre gate on the lever making it a real pain in the arse to get the PTO back into neutral :x

Image

now the linkage is lengthened and the flogged out joints are tightened up and I've got about 110-120mm travel between forward and rerverse.... I wont be sucking bullbars into the fairlead anymore

I still cant reach the lever with the harness on but at least I can engage and disenge it properly now :D

haha farken oath  but I've only got two forward reverse ones left coz I gave one to Sig and I've got two trucks so thats both of them accounted for so that'll leave 2 single direction ones to go into the spare parts pile

have you seen my collection of spare winches and PTO shafts

Went over to a friends from the club and he helped me doing the wiring for the trailer on my truck, now Iam all legal and can tow a trailer and dont have to worry about getting pulled over by the cops.

That is another job of the list of things to do.

got a wof on my trailer today. finally after a fair bit of work was done on it. Now to pick up my parts from up north to really make a start on the Suzuki.

And Ruben, it wasn't to hard to do the wiring was it? I got it done on the Pajero in about 20min.

Yeah was not hard once you know what wire is for what. Just a bit of farting about with the wires.

I was sorting through my Lada parts at Dad's (considering whether or not I should make me a buggy as a project alongside my Mini, lada and fiva, and my Dad's SP250 that I'm helping to rebuild   ), and was playing with a rear diff, and came to the conclusion that it is, at the very least, an LSD.

Hmmm......

May have sold the navara, unfortunately cash won't arrive for a little while which means the new whip I have spotted will likely not find it's way to my driveway :(

And SP, stop finding new projects! get lada going THEN worry about other crap :p

Gah, yeah I'll try. By the end of tomorrow I may have made a few achievements on the Lada (so long as my stoopid summer cold holds off enough  ) :D

Oh and Cam, I'm in no position to give you money, I actually need a fair bit of it myself. Donations?

Hey Mate,

I as you may or may not know I now have a Lada haha its only a 1984 2105-S I just took mine for a wof and it failed on 2 front tyres haha so they will be replaced today.

Do you know if the 1600 out of a fiva will fit into mine as they look very similar and mine is very slow haha. I only paid $100 and going to put some gravel rally tyres on it and then play around on the back roads lol.

Cheers

Ah, it should do. Oh also, it's Niva, 'Fiva' is Fiat and Niva combined

What engine does it have now? I'm fairly sure they're pretty much the same, so should be a fairly easy swap.
I'll have to come see it someday :D
