Well here on the ship when I need stuff I just order it and it comes  . So I have no idea how much steel costs.

How much would it cost to buy steel to fabricate you average winch bumper, rock sliders etc?

To buy it from a outlet like "steel and tube" you are looking at approx $100-120 for a 6m length (48mm internal, 4mm wall), that was priced about 2months ago and they are pretty well much the most expensive I had a quote from. I got mine through a local factory and he charged me around $70 for the same pipe, have a talk to your local fabricator and see if they can get you a deal on pipe

if you can get a good sales person the tube can get as low as $70.00 +gst for 51mm medium grade mild steel welded tube i have just got 3 lenghts for that price :D
i didnt go shopping around either as i thought that was sharp as it was

im guessing as the tube gets smaller then the price should reduce accordingly

Hi Clive, that sounds good, unfortunately I just got back on board so not back until beginning of April. Had a pretty hectic leave this time did stop by the shed a couple of times but there was no one around :( . Spent too much time at winery concerts drinking......

I have been waiting for some money coming from the UK for a while and I have it now so just trying to come up with a budget on how I am going to spend it. Same old story, too many plans, not enough spondoolies
