Tubes Slipping

Post by borg »

I have been having problems with my tubes slipping inside my rims. My thoughts were that sing a contact adhesive inside the rim should reduce the slip. has anyone ever attempted or heard of anyone doing so?

Regards

Using glue used to be a common trick years ago, don't do the tube tho, your better off glueing the tire bead to the rim if you stop this moving you'll stop your tubes moving.... but this can be a bastard to get off if you get a flat

We have the same problem with our non bead lock rims, even at 15 psi. The tyres eventually rotate far enough to rip the valve off the tube. Glueing the tyres to the rim was common, but its not only a pain to get the tyre off the rim later, it can also damage the bead making the tyre unusable.

That makes perfect sense. My thinking was to atleast try and stop the valve moving by securing it and the tube to the rim internally only in the centre part of the rim. The rotational movement on the tyre is not too bad and measuring it when the tyres are running down as low as 12 to 15psi the maximum movement seems to be about 2mm. this does not seem to cause any issues with the tube other thn the valce ends up on a funny angle and is a real pain to get at and the side of the valve starts to rub on the hole tears a hole in the side.

I guess I should really just bite the bullet on this one as I hate the rims anyway (factory jeep rims).

Thanks guys for the advice
