Post by dean zuk »

So i've just finished wiring up the g16a tbi into my 413, it started and ran after a couple of goes :D but now it wont turn off when you turn off the key, i had to pull the battery cable off to stop it  .

Any ideas what would cause this? I assume ive hooked up something wrong but have no idea what as it goes lol

Thanks for any ideas

Check alternator wiring, could be getting a back feed from the warning light circuit.

Cheers,
I keep looking for the loose nut behind the wheel, but I can't find it!!

I'd say you wired the "ignition on" signal for the ecu to permanent power as a first guess.

Shouldn't be the alternator as you should still be using the 413 loom for the charging circuit.

And we have a winner

Whereabouts should it go? Coil fuse?

At first guess I would say that you would wire it to a signal from the physical ignition switch that gives you 12V when the ignition is in the on/run position. That way when you turn the ignition off you take away the 12V and the ecu kills the power that feeds the spark (ignition) system.

As per Kernels suggestion, It should go to the "ignition on" wire at the ignition key. From memory I think it is black with a blue trace, but make sure you check. There should be 12V there when the key is in the "on" position and the in the start position and 0V when the key is an acc or off position. You can check that without starting the engine by disconnecting the starter solenoid wire and turning the key while checking the voltage with a multimeter.
