Asking all Surf owners with tailgate windows

I own my Surf for seven years now, in this seven years I replaced the tailgate windows motor five times already. what is wrong with this construction or what are you guys doing to keep the windows operable ? It seems every time I try to close that stupid windows I have to help to pull it out till it is nearly shut. it will not go up all the way, the motor stops. so I have to lower it for 10mm and go up again and I have to do that four to five time till that f%ç/ng windows finally closes. any solutions for that ? (yes, I know, buy a Safari, ha ha bloody ha) anything else maybe ? (keep your windows clean - now that's a thought) and beside that ?

Sounds like the tracks are out of shape. How easy does the window move when you have all the electrics out?

get ya garage tilt door to smash into the wiper arm pushing it into window mechanism thus stopping the window from working

when the motor is out and the tailgate down the windows moves freely, I can pull the windows out and push it in with no problems. it also works tailgate down with the motor when I disable all the stupid safety switches.

must be the tracks, thanks, have to give them a closer look (I already cleaned the rubber sealings, they are clean and smooth)

silicone on tracks and disable the interior switch (or like mine it never worked) so you have get out and help it up every time which stops the motor overworking, never had problems with mine

I had the same prob with mine. Lower ya door and take the trim off the inside. Then have a look where the two arms pivot, they should have teeth on them to keep them aligned with each other. Anyway you will see on 1 of them there has been some rubbing where they must pinch the steel to keep everything in line. Put some Oil/Gease or just what ever you have laying round on the but that has been rubbing. The other arm has the same its just hard to see. You can work the door in and out with the door down by using a screwdriver to snib the locks shut and tricking the switches into thinking its up.

Another thing an auto sparkie told me is the relays in the control board (located on the pass side of the boot behind the plastic) are too small for the load the motor draws and dont allow the motor to get full current. You can re-wire new standard sized relays in to make this a little better.

Mine's 20 years old and still going strong... admittedly every 6 months I have to pull the interior switch apart and scuff up the contacts with some 400 grit, but other than that it works like a charm, touch wood. Unlike the 3.slow that was under the bonnet ;/

Check your tailgate hasnt moved out of alignment with the channels in the frame of the back ...this will cause the window to have to be hard to go up.
