I can't remember when it happened, but before the suspension and body lift and the new 32 tyres the steering always felt fairly heavy.
These days the steering is so much easier like the power steering has finally started working again.
Does anyone know what makes the steering a lot lighter? Just interested in case its a meltdown about to happen.
Cheers

Re: Terrano - Light on the steering
Hmm. My terrano (and another that I drive fairly regular) both have the issue that occasionally the powersteering stops working. Always at low speed when need to turn sharp (like out of a carpark). Very random, like it happens once every few months of daily driving. Feels like a bypass valve sticks for a while. Sometimes comes right in a few seconds, once it taken about a minute. Usually don't know tho, as don't need assist driving straight.
Levels sweet, belts tight, no leaks, not temp dependant...
Guessing its something internal, but never looked into finding a solution....
How hard would you say your steering had been?
Like no assistance? Small assistance?
And now? Too assisted?
Be interested if there's a easy solution I've overlooked

Hmmmm, sounds like your problem is a little different to mine, but interesting you have it on 2 Terranos.
My steering was always fairly heavy to begin with. Never changed really, but noticed a big difference after the upgrades. I would have though larger wheels would put more load on it.
It's not a problem, but maybe its started working since putting it under load and some crap finally cleared

Surely less castor and/or a more neutral camber would make steering lighter.
Have you had your alignment checked?

No haven't checked that.
But I've only noticed the difference with the truck being static.
Not to worry, better is good
