Little Help!

Post by Newkid »

Hey guys, i now have a 1991 Hilux Surf Offroad 3ltr V6 Petrol Manual SSR-X. I am off to the states for 3 months on the 09th July.Would anyone on the forums know what the yanks call them over there? I have heard 4Runner or just a pickup but the few offroad shops i have talked to cannot confirm if they are one in the same.

Im going to buy all the suspension / lockers / tyres and stuff over there and get them freighted back in a friends container. Is there any legal height requirements for certs i shoud be aware of? The suspension im looking at is 4-5" lift lol.

Thanks heaps in advance :)

depending on what your intended usage is i would hope the lift includes budgeting for a sas coz spending the money on a 4-5 inch suspension lift with IFS is a waste of time imo

4runner is what you're looking for its what they call the ifs model that we call a surf.

Pick up is what they call a (typically) solid axle hilux wellside.

Do your homework before buying a "SAS kit" from the states. Typically they are not cheap and include springs and shocks etc that we would typically use second hand bits over here. The rest are brackets that plenty of NZ guys can build you. IMHO for the price of the kit and shipping you could send you truck down to Tom in CHCH while you are away and come back to find it lifted up with coils front and rear and enough flex to wear out your sidewalls
