Another rocklobster question!

Post by Supa_zuka »

Hey guys,

Looking into doing a rocklobster on my 413 thrasher. I'm located in Kaikoura but was wondering where the best place is in Christchurch or elsewhere to get the gears machined. Going to try babylobster it first to see if that will spin the 31's abit better.

Thanks,
Tim.

Apprently you can just buy the 4.16 counter gear from lowrange offroad . and just use the other 410 and 413 gears out of the donner cases .

Saves having to have the hardened counter shafts machined and welded together .from memory they went through 3 cutting bits to do mine , so should be cheaper to just buy the gear off low range.

baby lobster will sort your high range road gearing for 31's but will do nothing to improve the low range gearing

Do you think it would be cheaper to buy a new counter gear from the states than get mine machined?

It costs around $1000 to get 4.9s from lowrange and do all the bearings and seals while your there. Just depends how much money you're willing to throw at it.

If hes already got the other gears from the 413/410 cases you can email and ask lowrange for a price of just the counter gear (like UBZ said) its way cheaper than the whole set, would still reccomend doing bearings and seals but you can pick them up trade cheap as chips
