Maybe it needs to be pulled apart, cleaned and lubed?

Pull the weather seal off the door and give it a good clean, muck builds up under them creating friction on the window. The runners the glass sits in also gets muck and damp in it and expands creating extra friction. Sometimes a bit of dry lube will do the job. Can be time consuming doing all the cleaning, but cheaper than burning out a motor.

Mine do the same mate. I've cleaned them, lubed them. They are better but they'll never be as good as replacing the rubber seals. They harden with age. wjw (Bill) had the rubbers imported at half the price Toyota wanted for them last year. I'll do the same once I get In touch with him and let you know how I get on.

Apprantly the importer in Japan got washed way in that tsunami. But I heard they are back up and running again in a new location. I'll get in touch with Bill next week.

Could it be that the window switch needs to be dismanteled and cleaned, they do carbon up.

Thanks guys I will try these suggestions. I'm not expecting them to be perfect just wanting them to open more freely so in the summer time dog has air in the back. :P

x3 please.
Had mine 'fixed' so many times i could have paid for a new 80.
The last wanker who 'fixed' them threw my tinted window away, replaced with a second hand window, chucked out my seals and didnt replace them.
So yes please for a set of window rubbers and seals.

id be keen on all 4 runners too.

I did manage to vastly improve the rears by taking them out with the window in situ, and giving them a good hot clean & dry & then slide them back in.

$370 is for all 4 they are a single piece for each window, the only charge on top of that will be the paypal fees, which I wont know until I do the transaction. Last time that was around $30.

Yes thanks count me in. Just took it to a mate and said the rubber seals have harden up and can't be saved. Yes you can clean them and lubricate the seals but this is an on going process that is never ending. Also this may cause the electric windows motor to blow which then your In the SH... So may as well bite the bullet and solve the problem once and for all and enjoy the windows working well for the summer
