Am selling my auto 95 Landcruiser and have just bought a manual 96 Landcruiser, which I am setting up to tow a 6.8 metre caravan. I am traveling around a bit at present, but am doing this work in the Auckland area, Henderson.
The new car already has a snorkel, heavier springs and a slight lift.
I have changed the oils in the engine gearbox and transfer case and changed all filters.
The synchro gears are stiff when cold. What brand of oil do you recommend?
Things I am intending to do:
Put the spare tyre underneath. The meaty steel tow bar and back bumper is in the way so has to go.
Bigger exhaust, Intercooler, retune, new window rubbers, possibly change tyres, possibly air lockers.
Some of my questions are:
anyone interested in looking at the 95 auto to buy?
where to get a second hand 3.5 ton tow bar and back bumper.
what tyres are the best that are okay on road but also good off road?
Who is the best outfit in town to retune after fitting intercooler.
where to get air lockers at best price?
any advice on choice of intercooler and exhaust system?
There will be more, so you can see I could do with some serious advice from an old hand or two. Would also really appreciate being able to meet up in person and learn all I can.
Cheers Cameron

Hi Cameron,
Im not very educated in the mechanics side of things. I too have just purchased a landcruiser to tow my boat and to drive up rivers to fish and camp. After heaps of research and asking fellow boarders it makes no sense to put spare wheel under truck. If you can open sway bar with out hitting tralier/caravan then leave it otherwise put it in boat like i will. Also i changed my tyres to kl71 for the reason they are good on rd and great off rd. Hope this helps.

Thanks for that, the tyres sound great.
