Newbie from Tauranga

Hi there, am just starting to get into the 4x4 scene. Loving it so far, is awesome fun.
Currently have a fairly standard Toyota surf. Has 31 A/T's on it, work alright but want to get something a bit better? Decent set of muds. What would be your recommendations and what sizes? Also want to raise it, is a 92 model. Does anybody have a set of llifting springs to fit? How much can it be raised before it will need to be certed ?
Any help would be much appreciated....

im in tauranga aswel, also got a ln130 that i put 2 inch lift coils from autoline in but iv herd 80 series landcruser rear springs are a good fit, as for tahs there are way many 2 chose frome now days and every1 has a different opinion but if it was me i would be looking at maxis bighorns, hancook dynapro's or somthing along those lines you might spend 7-900 for a brand new set. but it also dipends how much ur planning on doing to the truck any long term ideas yet?

I have a set of 80 series springs you can try if you want. Also have tyres you can try for size, but no sets for sale. I have 33's, 34's, 35's and 36 inch sets so would have it fairly well covered.

Would you be interested in selling springs? Yeah I'd be keen to join a club nd meet some new people. How do youi join? Is there a monthly meeting somewhere that i could come along to? Where does everyone go? Can anyone go to tect park? Have tried mailing the guy from the website but no luck getting a reply...

Hi Scott welcome. Im local too and know a few guys with 130 series surfs. Good trucks. Depending what you want to do I would have say still with a small lift and they recommend 32"s max tyres as the front diffs dont last too long with the load of anything much bigger. Im sure someone will quote otherwise but I guess its all down to driving style. But yeh unless you want to spend a fortune I would say something like as previously mentioned the Maxxis bighorns, Hankook Dynapros, Nankang N889's are all pretty good cheapish muds. I had 33" nankangs on my safari, pretty good in mud, lasted bloody well on such a heavy truck too, identical tread pattern to the maxxis but less tread from new (probably maxxis 2nds as slightly cheaper usually), got 31" hankooks on my hilux and they too seem pretty good, bonus having a little bit of sidewall grip/protection too which some of the cheaper tyres lack. At the end of the day as with everything it all comes down to how much $$$ you want to throw at it and what you want to do with it.
One mate had a surf with 2" springs in the back and 32" nankangs, another has a prado front axle conversion running 35" simex's, $$ and time are your only limit
