Or for the lads that like a V8

All depends on what you want to do with it, I sold my shortie and now have a LWB for the extra room and can fit more camping gear in it

I don't know what is best, but SWB seems to be the most common, only down side is there is not much room once you get 4 people and some 4wd gear.
High roof

Low roof

I don't think swb Safaris came out in a high roof.

swb or low roof lwb best bet
89 safari, pto winch, 33x15 simexs. sliders,75mm lift . turbo intercoolered

I've had 4 GQ swb, 1 GU swb, and currently a GQ lwb. Prefer the lwb by far, but comes down to what type of driving you intend to do.

hi, have u drive any with turbo? r they have much different with non turbo one? cuz i was heard from someone, the 4.2t have small turbo on it, not too much different with non turbo one. anyway, i have not drive both yet, i really dot know.

Mine is High roof, body lift sitting on 33's, i dont do hardcore 4wding, but it does everything i did in my shorty, you wont beat a SWB for hard core stuff.
Still comes down to what you want out of it.

I have a LWB Low roof TD4.2 n/a manual on 33's and find it fantastic. I have driven the SWB as well and prefer the LWB for comfort and space. I also prefer the LWB off road
In the manual I dont think that being n/a is too bad but in the auto it sucks

My last shorty was a '95 turbo auto. Didn't think it was that different over the n/a until I sold it and got another n/a, then realised there was a big difference. Any turbo will make a difference on these, they are sluggish at the best of times.

Re: i want a nissan y60, anyone drive it?
I have a 94 high roof lwb factory turbo and am happy with everything except the high roof. great for standing washing machine up inside but not so good at getting under trees. Its my tow wagon so dosnt really matter but if it was low roof would setup with winch etc for light offroading with the high roof no point.
N/A just not an option to me. factory turbo is enough just. after market turbo awesome if done right. with nissan having done the turbo longevity is assured so Im happy. also find the auto good 90% of the time tho I have a switch on the torque converter lock up.prefer the auto as around town its very smooth and quite quick where as the manual is always changing gears and 1st too second is a bit agricultural feeling and these engine work in quite a small rev range so lots of gear changes. the auto just gets it right. didnt want an auto but glad it is now. auto good off road but dont think pto is an option on auto???

i have driven a lwb safari low roof, manual.
not my cup of tea, i have found that they are roughly the same as a terrano in speed wise, comparing my 2.7t with a 4.2 n/a.

Re: i want a nissan y60, anyone drive it?
lwb will climb hills better but lots of three or four point turns in the tight stuff, i have a swb and love it. would def get a manual though, the 4wd low is much better than in the autos.
Re: i want a nissan y60, anyone drive it?
You would be best to just go a drive a few of each and see what you like.
Re: i want a nissan y60, anyone drive it?
my dream, one of each, for diffent 4 wheeling places.

89 safari, pto winch, 33x15 simexs. sliders,75mm lift . turbo intercoolered
Re: i want a nissan y60, anyone drive it?
That's a nice dream Coxsy.
I'd like a Short wheel base, and keep it stock and looking pretty.
Since my long wheel base is wearing alot of dents.
Leon , What sort of driving are you going to do ?
I think I'm the only one on here that has commented , that drives a Petrol Safari .. Love it, Wouldn't want a Diesel one- because it suits my driving .
If it was a daily driver, would most likely get a diesel though, as my gas bill is a bit silly .
Mine is low roof, standard height, and I brush trees often.
P.S Taz -- Screaming sheep -- Gold .
