headlight issues
so having some issues with the high beam on my 91 terrano
drivers side works fine but passengers side doesn't first thought was the high beam filament (if that how it spelt) so anyway tested the bulb and seems to be fine put it in on the drivers side and yea high beam works perfect so tested the voltage at the wires for fault light and sure enough no voltage from the high beam but low beam is fine.
had a look at wires and they look ok the next thing was to check fuses i may be going blind but could only find the ones under dash on drivers side but a rather there must be more but where??
and theory's on what's wrong would be great.
thanks

Re: headlight issues
i think the headlight switches pack up in these, they have an odd set up and burn out the switches. not 100% sure if that would cause only one light to go out though

Re: headlight issues
probably not the way to fix it but I'd just loop a wire over from the drivers side high beam to the passenger side and call it quits or you'll probably end up spending a month trying to trace out the fault

Re: headlight issues
Yeah, most likely headlight switch, they have a seperate contact for each side. You can remove switch assembly and pop cover off and clean contacts by wiping a bit of fine emery paper between them. Sometimes the little copper strips need a wee bend, be careful thou, easy to stuff it up
If you break it... build it stronger.

Re: headlight issues
i have similar issue my left light doesnt work on low beam though and works fine on high beam, i got conned into paying $80 for a 2nd hand lever box (the bit with all the copper ect) it worked fine for a month and done the same thing...lucky enough the lights are crap enough to run them high beam

Re: headlight issues
Have a look at this for an alternative work around, it replaces the small.5mm wire to the headlights with some 1.5mm wire for a brighter, more powerful battery feed

Ok people, move along. Nothing to see here. Thank you, move along.

Re: headlight issues
this is common problem with Terranos. I just cleaned the contacts on mine and came right. been good for a couple of years now. they are a bit weird having a contact for each side

Re: headlight issues
right so had a look at switch today cleaned contacts up but voltage was still not getting past the contact points so a tiny bend here and there and now works perfect (well till next time anyway)
