Adhesive for Vinyl Stripe

Post by icekayak »

We have had to put a new door on a car and it has a vinyl stripe across the old door. We have managed to pull the old stripe off with a razor blade and heat gun. Any suggestions for adhesives to put it back on the new door?

Your local panel beater will have some tape. Wurth, one of our suppliers has some brilliant tape for this but expensive (like most of their kit),

double sided tape is what they normally use, but its the thicker stuff bout 1mm thick not your normal sellotape variety. Call into a panelbeater and you should be able to get what you need instead of buying a complete roll.

Thanks though I was looking for something thinner as its the actual vinyl sticker we are trying to put on not just a body moulding. I think the normal foam mounting tape will make it stick out too far..

Was thinking maybe some f2 contact adhesive.

you need adhesive transfer tape, its just the glue that you can transfer to the old sticker. We have it at work (signwriters) and may be able to sell you some. Will check tomorrow
