trade me pipe benders
Re: trade me pipe benders
This type of bender is not designed for exhaust tubing. It will crush as the wall thickness is to thin in exhaust tubing. Tube benders and pipe benders are two different things as pipe and tube are measured differnetly.

Re: trade me pipe benders
yeah not even if you fill the pipe with sand ? i seen a few guys on you tube do it but its hard to tell how well its done....
Re: trade me pipe benders
Problem is the die's are made for pipe size's not tube.....(tube is measured outside dia, pipe is measured sort of off the inside dia)
You can use them if you make slippers that fit into the die's, these need to fit the tube snuggly and 45 degree's is about the max with larger tube, smaller tube will bend further without collapse I can bend 25mm tube 90 degrees without collapse
I wouldn't bother bending exhusts with mine..... I use donuts or combination bends and cut and weld alot faster and easier than marking out to get the bends in the right place

Re: trade me pipe benders
cool well that answers my question and saves disappointment thanks
Re: trade me pipe benders
My neighbour purchased one to bend some 2.5mm tube. What a mess, the bends are crushed and out of shape,
Re: trade me pipe benders

Here is an example of 25.4OD x1.6mm tube that I bent with mine, this isn't a good angle for the photo as the front bend isn't far off 90 degrees and there is no crushing

To make the slipper for this I bent a piece of 25NB heavy wall pipe in the bender then cut it in half down the bend so I had a slipper that fits into the 25mm die but fits the 25mm tube

I've used my bender for doing bar work, roll cages, hydrolic piping, I've modified it to bend U bolts, its worked a treat, especially since i paid less than $300 for it .... yes they do have there problems, but like any tool you need to know how to use it
