SU Carb

Post by zukmeista »

Been doing some reading lately, I see in the UK it is very common to fit an SU carb to an SJ, haven't seen one over here though. Just wondering if anyone has done it and if there was a power increase? There must be a reason why the poms like them?

you dont really get power increases as such with a carb change mate you've got to do more to your engine to get it breathing to do that but you can get better performance, economy (or sometimes worse  ) and throttle responses and in the 4wd world better performance on angles with reduced flooding Image

I realise there's more to it than just bolting a carb on, just want to see if anyone has done it is all.

su'z are good as they can pretty much run upside down. they don't get so affected by hills and sidlings etc. hence why teh get used on 4wds.

Perhaps accelerator and choke cables? And maybe some bolts to bolt it to the adapter? Oh and air filters are commonly used when people put SUs onto Suzukis. Also fuel lines are quite important for some reason.

I can go into more detail if you like?

:P :P
