A340F Transmission issues after valve body mod

Post by pinchers »

I am having a problem with my A340F from my KZTE Surf and cant seem to figure out whats going on. Before the valve body mod below the transmission was running fine.

I have been recently working on getting more power out the engine so i decided to do the valve body mod that i saw on the supra forum.

I ended up shimming out the 1st two actuators with 6mm shims. I also did a fluid swap for semi synthetic Dex 3, the old stuff was full of water from river crossings.

When the engine is cold and i drive the truck it shudders/vibrates (feels like going over a cattle grid slowly) upto 1800rpm where the vibration clears and feels fine.

When the engine warms up the vibration is not so bad but its still there.

The harder you accelerate upto the 1800rpm the vibration does get worse.

When in park or netural with the hand brake on the vibration will be there through the whole rev range.

I have also added Dr Tranny anti shudder fix with no change.

I tested the stall speed to be around 1800/2000rpm

Anyone got any ideas.

I would say something has gone amiss when you added the spacers...
Did you do it in the truck??? As it can be a prick to get everything to sit properly while you put it back together....
Only need one little gap and damaged gasket or a bit of crud in the wrong place and the trans wont work properly.

I know the spacers can make for harsh changes....
Also that mod wont get better power from the engine...
It will just make more positive gear changes.... No slushy long shifts.
