Hi guys
I have just fitted a factory diff lock to to rear on nissan safari.When using it and turning right it clicks in and out.turning left ok.You can here it go in/out of gear when using switch on dash.It was a complete diff when fitted.diff head never been out.The diff has only dun 75 thousand ks.
Has any body got any ideas.

My mates that have patrols had issues with the valve that activates them.
they put those mac valves in and there sweet.

Sounds to me like you might have a problem with the preload on the wheel bearings. The Safari rear wheel bearings are shimmed under the outer axle flange. I can't recall the limits but if you get hold of a manual it is clear how to set it up.

one of my mates had this problem the dog clutch in the diff was shagged had beveled the teath off mind you it had done 350 kms + hope this is not the case with yours.

This will be the problem, mine was the same. A gearmaker can fix it pretty cheaply for you. I had mine done in CHCH, but I think he may have been levelled.

Mike Jones gears in chch has fixed one for me he is still around.
