Post by hallr »

Hi guys
I have just fitted a factory diff lock to to rear on nissan safari. When using it and turning right it clicks in and out.turning left ok.You can here it go in/out of gear when using switch on dash.It was a complete diff when fitted.diff head never been out.The diff has only dun 75 thousand ks.
Has any body got any ideas.

Sounds to me like you might have a problem with the preload on the wheel bearings. The Safari rear wheel bearings are shimmed under the outer axle flange. I can't recall the limits but if you get hold of a manual it is clear how to set it up.

Cheers.

This will be the problem, mine was the same. A gearmaker can fix it pretty cheaply for you. I had mine done in CHCH, but I think he may have been levelled.
