Re: heavy duty idler arm for surf
i had never heard of any in nz but that was a while ago i last looked. there is a place in the states that make a brace for them but they are for a left hand drive vehicle. could be something that you could mirror and make work.

yea it not the shaft it self im having probs with its the arm that connects to drag link. its flexing up and down about 5-7mm causing wobble out at the wheel
Re: heavy duty idler arm for surf
is the arm actually bending or just flexing on the bushes?
some people fit bronze bushes in.
what mods has the front suspension got?

Re: heavy duty idler arm for surf
Is the arm flexing or is it moving due the the bushes being flogged out in the idler? The bushes are replaceable.
Some idlers have a thicker shaft and are a bit harder to bend.
Toyota used to have three different sized bushes listed, two for a thinner shaft and one for the thicker shaft.
I bent countless idlers on my old IFS Surf (LN61) running 33s and replaced bushes almost 6 monthly, until I got hold of one with a thicker shaft, it lasted a few years.

Just bent mine too (kzn130)
Do you know which trucks had the thicker shafts smurf? Or is it simply a difference between manufacturers?

Nah can't recall whether it was a certain model or year..
Ask Toyota about the bushes and see if they can give you a year or model number?

the arm itself is bending about 10mm back from drag link joint, so with the truck on the ground(so under load) if you grab the FL and move it as if you were steering it(truck not running) you can see the arm bending up and down no movement in bushes I put a brand new one on to see if that would fix it but made it worse due to the are only being 15mm thick, old one is 20mm
front suspension goes ome shocks, terrain tamer 26mm torsion bars, 1'' ball joint spacers and terrain tamer hd steering dampner
