Evening.
I was going to mount twin shocks, on the rear axle, one in front of the other.
Due to space constraints I am considering mounting them beside each other ie along the axle rather than front and back of the axle.
Just looking to hear some feedback pros/cons of doing it this way.
Cheers.
twin shock mounting?
Re: twin shock mounting?
well what sort of truck you have would be good ?
Re: twin shock mounting?
threr is a lot of setting up to get twin shocks mounted correctly front and back is most ideal as the shocks will be travelling on the same arc so they both get to full compression (without bumpstop in) and to full drop at the same time, bring one closer to the diff head and one further to the outer wheel and they will be running on different arcs so the full compression and full drop will be only on one shock, However i dont think it will be a big problem i would be setting them up outside one first to get optimal spring travel then set the inner ones up so they both bottom out at full drop, it will mean the inside one wont get full compression but with bumpstops in this wont matter, also the closer they are togeather the better as the arcs will be more of less the same hope this helps.
Re: twin shock mounting?
Why are you wanting to mount twin shocks? I am guessing the reasoning behind it is shock fade? These days there are so many options such as remote reservoir shocks that would work just as well and are not that expensive. The biggest problem with most aftermarket shocks is that they are effectively twin tube (one inside the other with most of the working oil in the inside tube) and subsequently do not get as much cooling because of it. A monotube shock (such as fox, f.o.a, raw predators and Amarda) is much better for cooling as the air flowing around it has direct contact through the shock body and with a remote reservoir attached you should have no problems. Plus they look cool.

Re: twin shock mounting?
Sam, I'm (eventually) mounting twin shocks for adjustablity. I have FOA coil overs now but am trying to make mounts now so that I can mount a bypass shock in the future.
Imsohi. Not sure I follow you, but get the gst of it. I'm concerned with a potential loss of roll stability by mounting them along the axle (as the inner shocks would be getting closer to the diff head and thus less leverage to resist roll forces). Just not sure if it will matter much.
Had a little measure this morning and im not sure that moving them inboard helps me any way.
Thanks for your replies. I'm still interested to hear thoughts on this.
