Hi guys,
Not really sure what thread to post this in. I have been reading on the NZTA website and from what I can conclude Utes do not have to meet the same frontal impact laws as 4WDs, cars, etc. So I began the search on gumtree.com.au and found several vehicles I'm interested in and could potentially afford. I have not yet contacted an entry certifier this will be the next step after posing some questions on here.
I have several questions, hopefully some of you are in the know.
I am looking at bringing in a 70 series ute from ozzy (single cab 4.2 diesel anywhere from 1990 to 1999). Is this possible, will it comply, etc? Has anyone done this and could give me more info?
Is Japan an alternative option? What sites should I look at for 4wds or Utes from Japan?
Cheers
Tourley
Importing 4WDs and Utes from AUS or JAP
Re: Importing 4WDs and Utes from AUS or JAP
Easy enough to import but compliance inspection can be troublesome.
You might not have to meet frontal impact regulations but check out emissions.
If the emissions regulation apply and it doesn't meet the required standards then it will be an expensive 'parts' vehicle.

Yeah I'm pretty sure it's the emissions regulations as to why you can't import older diesels now
