Hi, this is off the NZ4WD Mag forum for those interested....contact is below...not me...also a fund raiser for the Glenorchy Rescue Helicopter...
[Sorry, I forgot to include the most important detail in my note about the Rescue helicopter 4WD fundraising event.
It will be held on Sunday, November 19th]
Hi to all you South Islanders,
The Otago Recreational 4WD Group is once again running an annual off road event for all types of 4WD vehicles ( with good ground clearance ) as a fund raising event for the Rescue Helicopter Trust.
This year the event will be based at Dunback ( inland from Palmerston on the Pig Route ) . We have established tracks which are scenic, offer areas of historical interest etc. Some are easier to suit vehicles of the RAV4 type and others are available which should offer more challenging terrain for the better equipped and well set up vehicles.
We are able to offer camp sites at the Dunback domain for anyone that needs them, cost of these are $2.00 ( yes two dollars each ) Toilets are provided but there are no cooking facilities. Meals and drinks are available at the local pub approx 200m from the camping area.
Tickets are limited to a max of 200. These cost $75.00 per vehicle, passenger numbers are limited only by the number of seatbelts fitted to your vehicle.
If you would like a good day out, exploring new country please e mail or phone me for tickets.
This years event is especially significant for us. It was our local rescue helicopter that attended the accident at Easter, near Glenorchy, where our very good friend Linda Simson was accidently killed after falling off a track and down a cliff.
Funds raised from previous 4WD fundraising events had helped provide the night vision equipment, without which the helicopter would not have been able to reach us.
Remember, the rescue helicopters are probably the only form of emergency assistance able to reach any of us quickly should an off road accident happen. Thet need our support as much as we need them.
